When Pontiac decided to put the 389 V8 from their full-size car line into the mid-size LeMans for 1964, they unleashed the opening salvo of what became known as the "horsepower wars". Hoping to sell 5000 cars, Pontiac executives were stunned to discover that they had sold 32,450 units by year's end and inadvertently started the muscle car era. This spawned many desirable automobiles, but the GTO's are fondly remembered as some of the best-looking street warriors ever produced. This stunning Aegena Blue (E) 1968 Pontiac GTO is a fine example of these handsome classics. Lift the familiar scooped hood and you'll find Pontiac's venerable 400 cubic inch V8 that was rated at a stout 350 hp by the factory. Additional features include power steering, power front disc brakes, power top, Muncie 4-speed manual transmission with console, PHS documented Ride and Handling Package, Rally Gauge Cluster, and Custom Sports Steering Wheel, correct paint and Teal interior trim (E, 219), and classic Redline tires (235/60R15 F, 255/60R15 R) wrapped around REV Rally II-type alloy wheels. We are currently addressing the vacuum line issue with the headlight doors, which will correct the "one eye open" look seen in some of the images. This car is a beautiful example of a legendary marque in its absolute prime. When cruising with the top down, a quick downshift and a bit of throttle will leave your troubles far behind.
