Guess it is a good thing we have some extra time on our hands to look at the details on these small items. This is a small can of Hammer Lock cotter pins made by American Chain Co. Inc. The design for their cotter pins was patented in Mar of 1912. So this can is very likely over 100 years old. Wow talk about standing the tests of time. However it does look like someone took the name HAMMER Lock a little to serious. The top looks like it was likely hit by a hammer at some point during its lifetime.
