This 2057 lb. road scalpel will appeal to collectors (1 of only 25!) and serious drivers, but this is probably not the best car for date night. Basically an Exige S with special equipment and graphics, the Club Racer offers as pure a driving experience as any street legal automobile ever has. A tremendous list of hard-core hardware includes a supercharged 1.8L DOHC I4 engine (8000 rpm redline), 6-speed manual transmission, 4-wheel disc brakes with upgraded 4-piston AP front calipers with ABS, epoxy-bonded aluminum chassis (with front and rear unequal wishbones, adjustable Bilstein shocks, Eibach coil springs, and stabilizer bars), rack and pinion steering, Corbeau driver's racing seat, Simpson 5-point racing harnesses, sports exhaust, full length belly pan, and Starshield protective coating. Additional features include air conditioning, an Alpine stereo, power windows, power locks, removable targa top, and driving lights. Contemporary road tests enthusiastically raved about the stunning handling, braking, and steering of this track-focused package, such as AutoWeek's typical praise: "That means the Exige beats everything we've tested in the nimbleness and tossability category, including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Evos, STIs, and Porsches."
