The word 'legendary' is bandied about in these days of hyperbole without much thought as to its accuracy. It is no exaggeration, however, to call the 440-6 engine in this stunning 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda a truly legendary powerplant. Released in mid-1969, this engine offered similar street performance to the vaunted Hemi at a lower cost and with less maintenance. And judging by the list of features on the fender tag, this wicked Lemon Twist (FY1) 'Cuda was ordered with serious performance in mind. Factory features and options include the aforementioned 440-6 barrel V8 (E87), A833 4-speed manual transmission with Pistol Grip shifter (D21, one of only 902 V-code 4-speed '70 'Cudas), Super Track Pak with 9.75" Dana and 4.10 Sure Grip (A34), Rallye Instrument Cluster (A62), tachometer (N85), power brakes (B51), Carb Fresh Air Package (Shaker, N96), hood pins (J45), dual exhaust with bright tips (N41, N42), Elastomeric Bumper Group (front, A21), painted mirrors (G36), black Sport Stripes (V6X), and black vinyl bucket seats (H6X9, C55). The original AM radio/Stereo 8-Track (R22) has been replaced with a correct reproduction AM/FM stereo. This beast has nice paint, upholstery, carpet, trim, glass, pans and chrome, and the driving experience is pure 1970. I thought I would share something with our audience. We have Don Hood's Original art work from 1968. He is credited with artistically designing the 1971 Plymouth Baracuda. He told me he wanted us to have it so that others could enjoy his accomplishments. He passed a couple of years ago. Such an interesting man for sure.
