Chevrolet's 1983-1988 Monte Carlo SS was a sharp-looking package on the street, but it was actually a homologation special designed in the wind tunnel to win on NASCAR's super speedways. The sleek nose was very effective and Chevy won the championship in 1984 and 1985. For 1986 they headed back to the wind tunnel to create the Aerocoupe, which had a large convex rear window to reduce drag, and again they won in 1986 and 1987. Of the 161,067 Monte Carlo SS's produced from 1983-1988, only 6252 Aerocoupes were built over two years, and this gem might be one of the best.
