1978 Restored Harley Davidson SX 250, Museum Quality
Welcome to Street Dreams in Texas as we celebrate our 21st year in the classic and muscle car business. We are happy to share with you another museum quality classic motorcycle. This is a Harley Davidson Sprint 250. These classic bikes were made in Italy by a aircraft manufacturer named Aermacchi. After WWII they started producing motorcycles. They started in 1951 with a convertible or a scooter/motorcycle hybrid. In 1960 Harley Davidson bought 50% of Aermacchi's motorcycle division. In 1974 Harley acquired the rest of the holdings and was called AMF Harley Davidson. When Harley Davidson had started purchasing into Aermacchi the company branched out into racing with the 250 cc. In 1971 they began development of two-stroke racers with the 250cc and the 350cc capacity engines. After acquiring 100% of the division in 1972, they funded further racing development and the bikes were branded with Harley-Davidson on the fuel tanks. This provided Harley with some wins in several classes including the 1975 Baja 500. This classic motorcycle is sporting a 243cc single cylinder two-stroke and a 5-speed transmission. These bikes are beginning to attract the attention of collectors, so don't wait too long.
