1955 Chevrolet
Corvette
$149,500
#346 of only 700 produced in 1955
Welcome to Street Dreams Texas as we cruise into our 27th year of “Putting Dreams in Driveways". Over the past quarter century, we've had the privilege of handling some of the rarest and most beautiful Corvettes ever built—but this car marks a first for us. This stunning 1955 Chevrolet Corvette is the only one of its kind we've ever had in inventory—and with just 700 total produced, we can't help but wonder… how many truly fine examples like this are still around? We are honored to be able to present one of the most historically important American sports cars ever produced. This beautiful example #346 of only 700 Corvettes built for the 1955 model year. This makes the 1955 model the second rarest after the inaugural 1953 model. But rarity is just the beginning of this Corvette's story.
This Corvette was delivered new to Thomas Parent, a respected WWII veteran and retired supervisor at GM's Tech Center. Mr. Parent cherished the car for over 50 years, preserving it through decades of automotive evolution. His long-term stewardship is part of what makes this 1955 Corvette so special — very few early C1s retain such a well-documented, half-century single-owner history.
After Mr. Parent's ownership, the Corvette was acquired by Metropolitan Motorsports in Brighton, Michigan, where it underwent a complete, total restoration in 2008. This was no ordinary refurbishment — it was a $70,000 rotisserie-level restoration, performed with an emphasis on accuracy, craftsmanship, and respect for the car's historical significance. In today's dollars, this level of work would easily exceed $100,000.
Following its restoration, the Corvette earned a spot in the world-famous Lingenfelter Collection, one of the most respected private automotive collections in America.
Early Corvettes are quickly disappearing into private collections and museums, and examples with this kind of pedigree almost never surface. This is more than a collector car — it's a foundational chapter in Corvette history, restored, documented, and preserved to a level worthy of the most discerning enthusiast.
