American Bantam did not have enough production capacity to fulfill the U.S. War Department's order for their 1/4-ton Command Reconnaissance vehicle, so Ford and Willys were encouraged to develop their own designs. As WWII heated up and orders poured in, the Bantam's superior design was shared with and tweaked by Ford and Willys-Overland, eventually evolving into the world's first mass-produced 4WD vehicle, our beloved Jeep. Willys-Overland filed to trademark the Jeep name in 1943, and after the war began selling civilian Jeeps (hence CJ) and the rest, as they say, is history. Our slick 1951 Willys-Overland Jeep CJ-3A has been carefully restored and mildly modified with quality components. Beneath the hood is a fuel injected 4.3L V6 that's sporting headers, a free-breathing CAI, and an aluminum radiator with twin electric fans. Additional features include power steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, 3-speed manual transmission, tilt steering column with Spec-D wheel, a Pioneer stereo, ammo box console, rock slide rails, winch bumper with Smittybilt XRC 9500 lb. winch, Rancho RS5000X gas-filled shock absorbers, Crown locking hubs, and beefy LT265/70R17 tires on Fuel alloy wheels.
