Built in order to homologate the the special engine for Trans Am racing, the production Boss 302 was a barely tamed race car that sported huge ports and valves, a monstrous Holley 780 cfm carburetor, a high-rise aluminum intake manifold, 4-bolt main bearings, and a stout solid-lifter cam. As an example, a '70 Boss 302 engine has the same diameter intake valves as a solid-lifter 427 'Vette!
