Pontiac's Firebird, along with its Chevy Camaro cousin, were introduced for the 1967 model year to compete with Ford's Mustang. Both models offered high performance options during the height of the late 60's horsepower wars, but the 1970's were a different story. After 1972 the largest engine available in a Camaro was the 350 V8, but the Firebird could have had Pontiac's 400 through 1979. Our stunning Metalime (40) 1976 Firebird Formula 400 is an outstanding example and one of the nicest that we've had. Lift the unique hood, professionally modified for Ram Air, and you'll find the numbers matching (Z6N605913) 400 that's been fortified with rebuilt 6x-4 heads, a Crower 60240 cam (similar to RA II grind), and the functional hood. Additional features include power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes, power windows, power door locks, air conditioning, automatic transmission with Hurst Dual Gate shifter, 3.08 Posi rear end, true dual exhaust with X-pipe, front and rear stabilizer bars, tilt steering, custom trim group, correct factory space saver spare, factory AM/FM/8-Track stereo, and 245/45R17 tires on cool 17" alloy Honeycomb wheels. Originally sold in Fort Worth, TX, this jewel remains rock-solid and rust-free, extremely unusual for an F-body of this period. All features are currently functioning, including the 8-Track player!
