Although Ford produced the 2-passenger Thunderbird for only 3 years (1955-1957), these cars have been some of the most recognizable and collected postwar classics in America. Created as an alternative to Chevy's Corvette, the T-Bird offered beautiful styling, more amenities, and standard V8 power which resulted in a sales rout of about 24:1 in the T-Bird's favor. Ford went on to produce millions of T-Birds over 11 generations, but it's the classic 2-passenger cars that get the attention. This gorgeous Torch Red (R) 1955 Thunderbird certainly gets attention, but it's the attention to details that make this car special. Lift the classic scooped hood and you'll find what may be the finest-running Ford Y-block we've seen. This 292 has been bored to 298 ci as well as being align honed, surfaced, and blueprinted. Premium components include ported and glass beaded heads with hardened seats, a Blue Thunder aluminum intake manifold, Holley carburetor, custom Isky camshaft with solid lifters, ceramic coated headers, Smith Brothers pushrods, MSD billet distributor, Clevite bearings, and stainless freeze plugs. Additional features include the auxiliary hardtop, power brakes, power windows, automatic transmission, correct paint and trim codes, and air conditioning.
