When Pontiac decided to put the 389 V8 from their full-size cars into the mid-size LeMans for 1964, they unleashed the opening salvo of what became known as the 'horsepower wars'. Hoping to sell 5000 units, Pontiac executives were stunned to discover that they had sold 32,450 units by year's end and inadvertently started the muscle car era. This spawned many desirable automobiles, but the GTO's are fondly remembered as some of the best-looking street warriors ever produced. Additional features include power steering, power front disc brakes, power windows, power top, factory air conditioning, TH400 automatic transmission with correct Hurst Dual Gate shifter, console, correct black interior (223), and restored PMD Rally II wheels with new beauty rings. This is a solid and mostly original car that is believed to retain about 85% of its original paint.
