When sales figures for Pontiac's 1964 GTO started coming in, the remainder of America's automobile manufacturers scrambled to develop similar performance packages. The recipe was simple; stuff the largest engine possible into an affordable mid-size car and sprinkle with graphics, scoops, and exciting colors. In 1968 a quirky collaboration between Warner Brothers and Plymouth resulted in the Road Runner, a wildly successful car that more than doubled expected sales. Envious Dodge dealers demanded a similar product, and the Super Bee was born. Our beautiful Medium Gold Metallic (JJ1) 1968 Dodge Super Bee is an outstanding example that arrived with a trunk full of well-earned trophies. Beneath the handsomely domed hood is a numbers matching (BCN 2468130, VD 8E163115, BCD 5/6/68) 383 Magnum that's been fortified with a Holley carburetor, a Mopar dual-plane aluminum intake manifold, and a billet MSD distributor. The original pieces are included with the car. Additional features include power steering, power brakes (1), the numbers matching 727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission (VD 8E163115), 3.23 rear end (4), correct black interior (H4X), correct black transverse stripe (0), original AM radio (1), and classic Magnum 500 wheels sporting 215/70R14 Red Line tires that resemble the originals (44).
